Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow

It occurred to me last night when El Hub and I were driving home from running errands and I was wearing the new Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow in Zap…

I totally should start a support group for makeup lovers who walk around all day long wearing crazy makeup but have husbands/boyfriends/significant others who either don’t notice or, for whatever reason, don’t say a damned thing about it.

Something tells me there are lots of us out there…

When I caught a glimpse of my lids glittering in the car’s side view mirror, I realized that — WHOA! — I was wearing so. Much. Glitter.

I looked like I’d just spent the last 24 hours partying in Las Vegas instead of driving home to Novato from Babies ‘R’ Us. 🙂

And I can’t believe El Hub acted like he didn’t even notice! When I finally asked him about it in the car, he casually said, “Well, I noticed they [my eyes] were sparkly, but I’m so used to it now. I thought it was just normal.”

LOL!

Coming soon in eight glitter-rific $22 shades

If it’s glitter you want, it’s glitter you’ll get with the Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadows, coming soon exclusively to Sephora for the holidays.

Zap, the shade I’m wearing below, is a gold with gold sparkle; Magnetic is a purple with iridescent sparkle; Vega is a bright blue with iridescent sparkle; and Zodiac is a smokey black with a bluish green shift and 3-D sparkle.

There’s also a deep coppery iridescent bronze called Spacetime, an iridescent oyster beige called Chem Trail, a peach with pink shift called Recharged and a pinkish red with green 3-D sparkle called Solstice, which, by the way, I have to pronounce “Soul-Steese” ever since I binge-watched Broad City.

Wearing Urban Decay Zap on my lids and lower lash lines, and the lisptick is Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in EZ.

Glitter that goes hawd

Wear time is the big advantage these liquid shadows have over the original powder Moondusts, so if you have to go hard (or hawd) for an extended period of time, the Liquid Moondusts are wear it’s at.

Most of the time when I wear glitter shadow on my lids, I eventually end up with glitter on my cheeks and all over my face, but the Liquid Moondusts stay put. I can wear any of them for as long as eight hours and experience absolutely no glitter transfer.

The need for speed!

Because the formula is on the creamy side of the liquid shadow spectrum, they’re more like a fluffy mousse than a runny liquid, which makes them easy to control, as far as liquid eyeshadows go.

I will say that it helps to keep time in mind when you’re working with these because when you brush them on your lids or lash lines using the fine-tipped brush, they’ll stay wet for about 30 seconds before setting, so if you want to blend out any edges, you better work fast.

Think thin

A thin layer yields a wash of sparkle that looks like stars twinkling on a clear night, which is probably Babies ‘R’ Us appropriate, but I gotta have MOAR GLITTER, so I pile that sh*t on. Good thing these are designed to be layered. 🙂

If you do decide to go for broke, start with a thin layer, and let it dry. Then, repeat that until the sparkle thoroughly satisfies your inner unicorn.

Whatever you do, though, try to avoid stacking thick layers, because it’ll make your shadow look dense and heavy.

The two “Zs” — Zap and Zodiac

Definitely check out Zap and Zodiac, the two smoothest shades that have what I think is the finest sparkle of the bunch.

I like golden Zap because it pairs well with red or nude lips, and it’s not too outrageous to wear before dusk.

And Blackened greenish blue Zodiac totes looks like a sparkly liquid version MAC Club, one of my favorite shadows of all time.

I haven’t had the chance to try layering Club on top of Zodiac yet, but I’m looking forward to it! My spider sense is tingling. I have a feeling it’s gonna be bomb.
